Sometimes, you can do something good and then in the attempt to expand your empire and your market share, you make some bad choices. Well, this was definitely one of them.  I first came across Rex Goliath several years ago and liked their Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay wines, as they were inexpensive and not bad for someone on a budget who preferred having a daily wine.  So when I saw that they had a Zin, of course I was going to give them a play.

Now, the first thing to know is that this wine is a product of Italy, and is probably Primitvo which damned near could be a fraternal twin of Zin.  However, Italians don't typically make ZInfandel like we do in the US, meaning with higher alcoholic percentages.

This wine is too watery and it struggles to provide either berry or spice, feeling like someone took a good zin and spread it between two bottles and made up the rest with God knows what.

Our Mission: The Black Winer strives to expose African Americans [and others] to wines, without the flair, stuffiness, and airs of elitism and snobbery that you get from sommeliers and high level wine enthusiasts. We believe in finding something that you like the taste of, outside of the basic brands that you have been force-fed over the years through a combination of ethnically targeted advertising, and what people in your family have historically been drinking.
